What I have heard is that virtually any offset press can produce accurate results, but only if it is properly calibrated (creating color profiles and adjusting the ink densities), and the settings _locked_. That is what most printers won&#039;t do because they are accustomed to the &quot;old school&quot; method of running test prints and adjusting the ink densities on the fly for each job, which defeats the purpose of calibration.

Using a properly calibrated offset workflow, presses can be adjusted much less frequently and jobs pushed through much faster (provided the digital source files were correctly soft proofed and so on). It&#039;s not a technical barrier, just a matter of the printing industry being generally intractable.</description>

We manufacture an offset litho canvas (direct printing), and frequently tell folks that the success of the print will be determined in the pre-press color management.   It is nice to see some validation to our point.</description>
